- Break a small program into clear functions and source files.
- Use compiler warnings and a debugger to find common logic and runtime defects.

Files, errors and debugging

Capstone project
Plan, build, test and present a command-line record manager.Suggested contexts: small-shop stock, school results, SACCO members or farm produce.Required evidence: source code, sample data, test cases and a short README.Final code review and readiness check for the intermediate course.
Before you enroll
- No previous programming experience is required.
- Basic computer skills: typing, managing files and installing an application.
- A Windows, Linux or macOS laptop with at least 4 GB RAM.
- Ability to read and follow technical instructions in English.
- Commitment to at least 6 study hours per week for eight weeks.
What you need
- Laptop running Windows, Linux or macOS.
- GCC or Clang C compiler.
- Visual Studio Code with a C/C++ extension, or another plain-text code editor.
- Command line or terminal.
- GDB on GCC-based setups or LLDB on Clang-based setups.
- Git for saving project versions; a GitHub account is optional.
- Internet access for initial setup, lessons and submissions. Most coding exercises can be completed offline after setup.
